Violet: The Musical Comes to Long Lake
After wowing audiences this summer with A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Conference of the Birds, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts Summer Theatre Festival will finish the season with the moving tale of Violet: The Musical on Thursday, August 18th at 8pm at the Long Lake Town Hall.
The Arts Center writes of this show, “Set in the South during the early days of the Civil Rights Movement, Violet follows the growth and enlightenment of a scarred young woman as she travels across the country to be healed by a televangelist. This Off-Broadway hit is a powerful story with an energetic, toe-tapping gospel, rock, country and R&B score.” The show will feature professional actors-in-training from the University of Miami’s acting school, as well as locals like Long Lake Central School music teacher, Brian Beaudin.
With high-caliber acting and fantastic music, the Summer Theatre Festival shows have all been a hit and Violet is sure not to disappoint. So, come out and see a great show and support local arts! Tickets are $20/$15 Arts Center Members and $5 for kids under 12. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.adirondackarts.org or at the door.
